The IMIBIC-P2Med fellows were part of the Organising Committee of the first edition of the IMIBIC Meeting for International Postdocs, a hybrid meeting that was held at IMIBIC on the 20th December 2021.
The objective of this new event was to create a venue for postdoctoral researchers who work outside Spain to make themselves known, present their lines of research, and explore new collaborations with IMIBIC researchers and groups, including the IMIBIC-P2Med fellows themselves.
Seven talented postdoctoral researchers working in prestigious research institutes (Harvard Medical School, Karolinska Institutet, Heidelberg University and Hospital, Institute Curie, King’s College, Lund University, and Institute for Cancer Research) were invited. Their talks covered areas relevant to IMIBIC and personalised medicine, including novel therapeutic approaches to several types of cancer and diabetes, bioinformatics analysis of electronic health records and other real world data, new tools for systems biomedicine, and the latest new discoveries in the study of hematopoietic stem cells.
The speakers had also an opportunity to visit the IMIBIC research support facilities and learn about funding opportunities at IMIBIC, offered by regional, national and international calls.
Due to the limited capacity to host an 100% presential event, the scientific sessions were also streamed to a wider public.
We look forward to the second edition of the event next year!
